GibTalk's pictures come from three open symbol libraries, about 16,700 symbols in all. Search them here, the same way the app does.

Use the symbols API

The same search is available to anyone building AAC tools, free, with no key and no sign-up. It's a small server I pay for myself, so please be kind to it, and cache what you use.

Search

GET https://api.gibtalk.ragib.my/api/symbols/search/?q=<words>

Returns up to 100 symbols whose names best match the search, most similar first:

Images

GET https://api.gibtalk.ragib.my/media/<library>/<file>.png

Each result's url is the image itself. The part after /media/ tells you which library it's from, which decides the licence it comes with (below). Browsers can call the API directly, as this page does.

The server's code is on GitHub.

Licences and credits

The symbols aren't mine. They belong to the people who made them, and each library has its own licence. If you use them, including through the API, follow the terms of the library each symbol comes from.
